We Would See Jesus

1. We would see Jesus; for the shadows lengthen

Across this little landscape of our life;

We would see Jesus, our weak faith to strengthen

For the last weariness, the final strife.

2. We would see Jesus, the great rock Foundation

Whereon our feet were set with sovereign grace;

Nor life nor death, with all their agitation,

Can thence remove us, if we see His face.

3. We would see Jesus; other lights are paling,

Which for long years we have rejoiced to see;

The blessings of our pilgrimage are failing;

We would not mourn them, for we go to Thee.

4. We would see Jesus; yet the spirit lingers

Round the dear objects it has loved so long,

And earth from earth can scarce unclasp its fingers;

Our love to Thee makes not this love less strong.

5. We would see Jesus: sense is all too binding,

And heaven appears too dim, too far away;

We would see Thee, Thyself our hearts reminding

What Thou hast suffered, our great debt to pay.

6. We would see Jesus: this is all we’re needing;

Strength, joy, and willingness come with the sight;

We would see Jesus, dying, risen, pleading;

Then welcome day, and farewell mortal night.

Ước Ao Nhìn Jêsus

1. Ước ao nhìn Jê-sus, trong khi màn đen bủa vây,

Dầy đặc thêm mãi trên đời gang tấc tôi rày;

Ước ao nhìn Chúa, để đức tin tăng cường dẫy đầy;

Bạc nhược nay hóa tranh hùng trận chót ai tày.

2. Ước ao nhìn Jê-sus, đây Thạch Bàn kiên cố thay,

Nhờ hồng ân Chúa tôi hằng đặt vững chân rày,

Sống hay là chết, nhất nhất mưu sâu cùng kế dày

Làm gì được nếu tôi nhìn mặt Chúa đêm ngày.

3. Ước ao nhìn Jê-sus, bao nhiêu hào quang trước tôi,

Ngày ngày vui ngắm, nay dần mờ tối đi rồi;

Dẫu bao hạnh phúc lữ thứ tiêu tan nào tiếc đời,

Một ngày tôi sẽ đi về cùng Chúa trên trời.

4. Ước ao nhìn Jê-sus, đây nhu cầu tôi trước nay,

Được nhìn xem Chúa, vui mừng, mạnh khỏe hầu Ngài,

Ước ao nhìn Đấng chết, sống, đang biện hộ mỗi ngày,

Từ biệt ma chết, đêm trường, mừng rước ban ngày.
